Jan 17, 2009Assuming the motor is up to it, and it will be at least for light loads, the RPM will be the same and the extra 1 of diameter will give more circumference alright.However, the wheel does not turn slower, it turns at the same RPM as you said and the grinding speed at the edge of the wheel is higher since for each rpm there is 8/6 more circumference going by the workpiece for the 8 wheel.
