Sep 21, 2006I prep the raw end with a bench grinder, angle grinder, file, or (my fav) belt sander. I dress the raw end square then champher the threads to 45 degrees a bit below the root diameter. A quick buff on the wire wheel eliminates any nasty sharp edges. Total time for the cut: a minute or two. Dress the raw end: maybe another minute.
