The lead screw on the taig Y axis has 0.75 that is unused, this spacer will use that. This will upgrade your mill from 5.5 inches of Y travel to 6.25 inches a 13% increase.

It's times like this I'm glad I bought a Taig and several vendors have the exact replacement parts available. $25 for the leadscrew and $19 for the nut. A contributing factor here was likely that the Taig mill doesn't have way covers for the Z axis. I think that might be one of my next projects now

Nov 04, 2008Anybody have a Taig CNC mill or ever used one? I also had problems with z axis sticking, the adjustment for the z axis was touchy (it may be the spindle motor being heavy). Other than that, the machine was fine for small detailed work. Travis 10-30-2008, 1122 PM #3. D. Rey.
